President George H. W. Bush had planned to join the former members of the ADBC at our 2011 Convention banquet in Pittsburgh, but was unable to attend. He sent the following letter to be read at the convention.
The letters below were prearranged by the DG Board on behalf of the entire organization. These letters were read at the banquet at the 2008 Louisville Convention by in-coming President Jan Thompson. At the end of the banquet all former POWs in attendance received their own copies.
On April 11, 2014, Jan Thompson sent a letter to President Obama regarding the visitation program and attaching the Statement to the House & Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees.
On January 22, 2014, the ADBC Board sent two letters: one to Vice President Joe Biden regarding how Japan addresses its responsibilities toward the American POWs; and the second to Ambassador Caroline Kennedy thanking her for the statement she made regarding Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine.
